Madelyn Liverett – 2020 Hubert P. Barnes Scholarship Award Winner

The Palmetto Chapter is pleased to announce Madelyn Liverett as our 2020 Hubert P. Barnes Scholarship award winner!  Here is some more information about our scholarship winner that we are very proud of!

“I was born in Raleigh, NC, but I have been happy to recognize Greenville, SC as home since 2012. I have a younger sister and boxer as a pet. I enjoy dancing, playing basketball and hanging out with my friends during my free time. I had the opportunity to attend Southside Christian School from 7th – 12th grade where the importance of faith, family, community service and education were instilled in me which would help me navigate life successfully. My family and I are active members of Advent UMC and we are excited to a be a Hokie family for life! I am looking forward to achieving a major in Public Relations and a minor in Science, Technology and Law and I aspire to represent some of the world’s top companies in how their products and services make the world a better place.

Most importantly, I want to send a big thank you to you and the entire Palmetto Chapter. I am incredibly honored and extremely thankful for being a recipient of the Hubert P. Barnes Memorial Scholarship. As a member of the 1950 graduating class, my understanding is that Mr. Barnes lived the motto of Virginia Tech (Ut Prosim – That I may serve) throughout his life by giving to his community and supporting his alma mater throughout his adult life. My goal is to emulate these actions in my own life and I truly thank you and the chapter for the support you are already giving through this scholarship. My family and I do look forward to meeting everyone in this chapter soon and sharing my experiences at Virginia Tech. I want to thank you again and wish everyone continued good health during these challenging times. Be safe and go Hokies!”
